The Game that got me addicted to arcades: The Grid

Post by ChiliPepp3r » February 28th, 2013, 9:41 am

This game has to be my all time favorite arcade game. But have unfortunately not been able to find it for quite some time...

The smooth flow of the game, coupled with unreal tournament-esque weapons, and trackball movement!
Standing right next to my 3 buddies while playing this game was probably my favorite thing to do on the weekend.

It's a Midway game and seems pretty graphic intensive, but does anyone know if someone has got it to work on MAME?

What game first lured you into the arcade scene? :woot:

Interesting combo lol
My child, you have come to me my son. For who now is your father if it is not me? I am the well spring, from which you flow. When I am gone, you will have never been. What would your world be, without me? My son.

I started pretty early, so I only remember Final Fight, Sunset Riders, Street Fighter and Asterix.
I tried the game on my new PC and I couldn't get past the ROM/RAM checking. I can't try it again now since for some reason it doesn't recognize my hard drive now (it was fine yesterday). If I get it fixed I'll try it again.

I have no idea what my first arcade game was, but I have hazy recollections of Pac Man and Scramble, which I was addicted to for a while. I was playing on an Atari 2600 console before I ever hit the arcades, though. Amazing, if blocky!

Definitely for me I got addicted hard to 1v1 fighting games starting with Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and then Killer Instinct and Tekken 2 in a big way.

I still play all these games in MAME all the time! Needless to say I've learnt a lot of AI patterns :ninja:

Well, I remember having 4 years old, and my aunt inviting me to go to the "video games", I didn't know what the hell she was talking about, but I said yes anyway and we went there... I don't remember much of the experiencie since I was very young but I do remember that my aunt started playing pac-man and when she was done she gave me a few coins to go play whatever I want, then I remember that the first game I played was Kung-Fu Master, that machine simply lured me to it! I was simply amazed by that game and since that moment I asked my aunt to take me there all the time! So... in short, it was Kung Fu Master what made me addicted to arcades.
