How to Apply PSX Plugins in MAME32 Plus! Plus! 0.119

First, get the folder package from the Kaillera downloads page. Direct link:

http://www.kaillera.com/files/mameppk_f ... 0070914.7z

It's a .7z file so use 7-Zip to extract it. The plugins folder is ready to go in there so add it to the MAME32++0.119 main directory.

To see a full list of MAME games to which the plugins can be applied, click on PSXGame in the left field of the MAME32++0.119 GUI. Then go right click on a suitable game>Properties>PSX Plugins>tick the check boxes for 3D Graphics and Sound>make any other plugin adjustments you want>Apply>OK. Applying the plugins to the parent rom will also do the the same for it's clones.

You can't see any MAME tab menu options when playing in this mode so you do need to make sure that the controls are configured how you like before applying the plugins. You can still exit the game normally, ('esc' in single player, or 'esc' then 'Y' for online play), you just can't see it.

Thanks mate, epsxe has some options that can really make games look amazing (fancy lighting, etc), looking forward to seeing what I can do with Killer Instinct and some other games on MAME that have the potential to benefit from this.

Sorry mate, that won't work coz Killer Instinct is not a PSX CPU arcade game. As best I can tell so far, PSX plugins only work on arcades in that PSXGame list I mentioned. Of course, you've still got image enhancements like Kreed's Super 2xSal for other games in MAME32++0.119.

Ah ok no worries, yeah I guess I'll stick to the other ones for the unsupported games then. They work great too so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, it's all good eh. I need to run some tests but I think that some 3D games might get a frame rate performance improvement under PSX plugins.

Yes it would be great if I could put my graphics card to some good use and have the arcade version of Tekken 3 running nicely. It runs fine in epsxe, even with the graphics turned up high, but in mame I remember it being a bit of a slideshow.

I actually tried Tekken 3 (specifically, the clone rom - tekken3a) but it wasn't a good test for me. Even though the frame counter was mostly hanging around at close to 60 fps under PSX plugins, the game still felt like it was a bit in slow motion. Dunno if that's the emulation or just my old PC, so please lemme know if you get good performance with tekken3a.

Just letting everyone know I tried out Tekken 3 on my new beast PC and it runs at 100% (F11) HOWEVER it runs as if it's in slow motion mode!

Seems like this rom needs some work still. Just a heads up ;)

Also please let me know of any more hardware intensive games that you guys want tested because I would love to do that on this new PC. Most of the more 'hardware intensive' mame games are lightgun games which kinda sucks (Carnevil, etc) but i'm open to all games that have a 'working' status in MAWS so let me know :)

Ahhh OK... so it is the Tekken 3 emulation causing the problem then. Thank you very much for confirming the info, Nos. :hello:
