Mame Only Uses 1st player joystick for both players

Post by tklass » February 19th, 2016, 7:52 am

Hi There,

This is my first install and i have configured everything from hyperspin to mame and the games all work but i have a weird issue.

After submitting 2 or more coins and pressing player 2 start the games starts with player 1 and player 1 joystick. then switches to player 2 however the player two controls do not activate instead player 1 controls are active again

What version of Mame do you have? Indicate if you are using mameuifx or command line with a frontend.
Does this happen with more than one game?
Are you using more than one version of mame which access the same config and ini files?

---Mod edit---
I had to merge two post since they were the same questions.

Do you have a cfg folder with a bunch of files named after the games in there?

Yes there is a cfg foler, it has the game files in there however the config contents themselves don't have much in them.

Rename that folder to old-cfg, so you have the original. Now create a new folder called cfg.
Also, look and see if there is a folder called ini.
If so, are there files in there named after the games?

OK, I downloaded your version.
So, rename the folders ini and cfg. Then create new folders for ini and cfg.
Open a game, then press the TAB key to open the menu.
Use this menu to re-map your controls.

Do not use Input general, only play 1 controls and player 2 controls.
