Strange GLSL speed issue

Hey guys,

I'm an avid HLSL lover and have been using it exclusively. It runs great and looks great. But with all the recent filter improvements, I decided to give GLSL a go. The problem is that using GLSL. all games seem to run at half speed, but the strange is that it's exactly half speed (well, 51%). What could cause this?

I'm running Windows 7 SP1, 8 gig of ram, GPU is a 2 gig Geforce 750TI. As I said, HLSL runs fine.

That is strange. I just gave Open GL a quick try in MAMEUIFX 0.165 with both Lottes and CRT Geom HQ and couldn't get any performance drops. Quite the opposite in fact. In Alien vs. Predator, for example, I can run the attract mode unthrottled at about 1,700% above normal speed.

Hey, retrofreak90, I was wondering.... Have you tried moving out your mame.ini and starting again with baseline settings to see if that has any affect on the problem?

On the subject of GLSL, I've just grabbed 0.166 and I can't get it to work in fullscreen... Just chucks up an error and then plays in a window... It looks good but I need to sort it out before transferring it to my cabinet... Any ideas gang..? :confused:

Yeah don't worry, one too many shaders selected, all good now... Looks good, time for the external HD to do a transfer again...

I never turned on multiple OpenGL shaders before, so I wouldn't have guessed that was the problem. After trying it, I got the same error. I vaguely remember reading something about Mamesick putting that feature in MAMEUIFX for shader developers to test stuff with.
