Hey everyone!

Post by Baraka » November 15th, 2012, 6:53 pm

I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been out of the emulation scene for about 10 years. I have started a family and only recently finished my own MAME cabinet.... finally! (I've built 3. Always for other people) I found this site Googleing for various MAME related topics and it seems like a great community. Thanks for accepting my registration! If any of you are running the 3DArcade FE, I should tell you that I am the same Baraka who built a few of the cabinet models. I am looking to set up that FE on my machine again. Is it sad that I have absolutely no idea how to do it after all of these years ? Don't judge me. LOL

Looking forward to being part of a community of fellow MAME Addicts.

Sincerely,

Baraka

Lol, I can't judge you, Baraka, since I never built a cab or installed a front end. While MAME cabs look like loads of fun for young and old I simply don't have the room.

Funny that you mention the issue of space for a MAME Cab Hierophant. I have kept a partially working cabinet in our basement for years and only recently while renovating our home my wife told me that we should throw it in the large dumpster that we had outside..... or finish it off and make it work. I chose the latter. That is what got me back into the world of MAME and eventually here!

Yeah, let's see your MAME machine!

It was interesting to read that you designed some cab models for 3D Arcade, Baraka. Did you use Blender or something like that? I've been keen check out some 3D graphic software, but it does seem somewhat daunting for someone who's only worked in 2D.

Welcome to MA!
I made a 3D model once for this "Second Life" like site that google had called Lively. I made an arcade, thought it was not very good. No bliky lights on it. I made a sculpture and weight set.
Lively is no more though. This was several years ago, around 2005. Have not done it since.
