Still looking at Beat em Ups and comparing titles but considering replacing Virtura Fighter for Samurai Showdown to give SNK some more love on the Top 10 Fighters. Thoughts?

Yeah, I would drop Virtua Fighter in favour of Samurai Shodwon any day, but I'm totally biased towards SNK!

Have you thought about Rival Schools, Seraph? I've been playing it a bit on ePSXe lately and it just seems to stomp other 3D arcade fighters for fun, playability, and cool characters.

Hiero, I'll check it out but if I add it that title would likely go for Samurai Showdown as it stands now unless I dropped Dead or Alive or Soul Caliber. I want to try to keep as many series that have appeared at the EVO fighting tournaments as possible to ensure I'm familiar with the most played games in that genre.

Maybe most played is innacurate. Most competitive?

Rival Schools is definitely an awesome game that I'm surprised I never played at the time. Likely busy with Marvel fighting games and Tekken at the time. Still think I'll be keeping Samurai Showdown as the 10th slot. Man hope everyone keeps coming up with some good suggestions throughout the genres of games.

Going to start looking at Platformers again and thinking of just making it a Top 10 so I can have more room for some other titles.

I am working on the last of the list. When I'm done, I'll post the full list for review while I look for the best MAME title for each of the games. Maybe once I'm done and we talk about games a last time you guys can sticky a new post with my completed list.

Hang on, that last lot seems kinda confusing. "Top 10 Shmup Light Gun" and "Top 5 Shmup Rail Gun"? Most of those light gun games could be considered as on rails shooters, too. Some of the ones you listed as light gun are technically not light gun games, either. Gunblade NY and Silent Scope both have positional guns, not optical:

Gunblade NY - http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... me_id=8046
Silent Scope - http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... me_id=9544

Why not simplify it and just have "Top 15 Gun Games" or something?
