Re: New to MAME

Ah OK, makes sense then if he was demonstrating how to add missing ROMs, but yeah, zipping the file back up again afterwards is obviously best. No worries, the FAQ is meant to make things a little less confusing for newbies, so I'm grateful for the question. Yes, sound device files such as qsound.zi...

Re: Zen of Arcade 1CC

I thought the coolest speedrun strat was around 4:50 where he intentionally takes a hit and falls through a huge chunk of the stage during the post-hit invincibility frames.

Re: New to MAME

Since this morphed into a help topic anyway, I've moved it from 'The Lobby' to 'MAME Help' and changed the name from 'Hello' to 'New to MAME'. * * * * * OK, I'll try to fill in a couple of gaps here. Leaving ROMs zipped was the default for a very long time and is still a good baseline behaviour to h...

Re: Zen of Arcade 1CC

Ah, but it it still cost one credit to buy that life!

I know what you mean, though, BenCQ. Being able to 1CC a game like Ghouls 'n Ghosts is one thing, but to No Death it is something else entirely. Congratulations!

Re: A friends YouTube channel

Having a gander now. OK, here's my bit of friendly advice. I could tell straight away that something was off in KoF Maximum Impact. It's meant to be in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Putting it in a 16:9 ratio stretches the graphics sideways and makes the characters look oddly out of proportion. Here's an exam...

Re: Arcade - The continuation of MAMEUIFX

Maintenance mode just means that there isn't any more active development of new features for Arcade / MAMEUIFX, but the good thing is that the existing framework will be kept in sync with new MAME versions as they're released. It'll still be very useful for checking out new arcade games as they get ...

Re: Save/Load Slots in MAME32 0.84u2

G'day :hello: In the oldest MAME I use, mameppk 0.119, every number and letter key counts as a save slot, for a total of 36 slots. The save states for each game are stored separately by ROM name in the sta folder, so slots can't be overwritten by other games. You'd have to check if the same rules ap...

Re: Major Havoc lines disappear

Yes, apart from using an older, pre-bug version of MAME, the other option is to just wait and see if that bug gets fixed in a future version.

Re: Arcade - The continuation of MAMEUIFX

It's really awesome that someone decided to keep MAMEUIFX going, even if it is in only maintenance mode for now. It looks like it was taken over by MAME developer, Robbbert, who I believe is from Australia, which makes me feel kinda patriotic! :viking: In case it's not clear to anyone who wants to t...
