My new cocktail table

Post by flcl64 » December 9th, 2015, 12:24 am

This was my first big project like this.

I built the table top, frame, control decks, and coin door from scratch. It runs Mame Plus! XT on an old stripped down Dell laptop with all my favorite retro games. The buttons are wired to 2 Logitech Dual-Action controllers and an old keyboard. There's two fans streaming air over the laptop and under a 17.5 x 9.5 inch flat screen monitor. It has two speakers, one behind each controller backboard. I spray painted the top black and orange with stripes, then printed out the artwork, glued it, and sprayed over with clear enamel.
It took me about a year of mostly procrastination but now it's done.

you are not cutting the part of glass over the top of the controls/buttons? seem like it's in the way to me

I like the second one. Put your MA name there and I will place it on the slide show.

Replaced the Logitec controllers with some actual arcade controllers I found on eBay. There weren't many soldering spots on the old ones and pushing the wire up through the board wasn't really reliable.

More upgrades! I've added a real coin door and another pair of fans. I had to replace the sides too, but this time I got real high quality textured wood grain vinyl (rather than the drawer liner I had before). I got all matching buttons. (The old ones were different brands so none of them felt the same.) I made my own Mala menu screen. I'm currently painting the controllers, one side is Donkey Kong themed and the other is Ms. Pac-Man.

New pics asap!
