After making the effort to upgrade Mame to 0.166 I decided to give my cabinet a bit of sparkle... We had been using some reflective sheets of material at work which also had the bonus of being sticky backed... I asked my boss if I could have the scrap and cut it into 1cm squares...

And after lots of fiddly sticking...

Really pleased with the outcome, simple but effective...

Wow, mate, that's one of the most innovative handmade cab artworks I've seen! :woot:

I have just, in the last couple of weeks, changed out the Happ sticks in my X arcade to two rubber bung centred Silverline sticks from an old control panel I snagged on eBay... Considering the age of the sticks they are very low mileage, almost new old stock, and are far more precise than the newer sprung centres... I'll put some pictures up later...

This is the control panel I got...

Image

I could tell by the lack of wear on the sticks that I had grabbed a bargain...

Image

The rubber bungs are hardly worn, in fact they are still both fairly stiff...

Image

I had to use a packing bolt under each stick to get them to sit at the right height inside the X Arcade and I also widened the holes a bit as well as adding a small chamfer to the inside... I reckon they look the part and hitting diagonals is so much more precise now...

Image

The biggest pain in the neck was removing and replacing the cir clips on the stem of the sticks, other than that it was pretty much a breeze...

Well if you want to play Outrun with a bit of force feedback, a temporary fixture is in order...

Did you research the wheels and thats what you think is best, or still learning about wheels, or just liked that and stuck with it? Asking cause maybe I'll have to keep that in my eventual buying spreadsheet. Kinda hurting for playing cash between babies and getting some Marvel comic cards I was missing for my epic collection. They were pricy but may never see them again...
