Sorry to hear that Pete :( Keep us updated bro. I had PC troubles recently myself, it can be infuriating.

Emulation has come a long way over the years, I would be pretty surprised I imagine if I got some of the newer emulators downloaded for PS2/Gamecube etc. I've even seen Demon's Souls and Persona 5 emulated pretty well recently. It's attracted some unwanted attention though in the form of a lawsuit or two from what i know.

Also just a hi to everyone, haven't posted in a while. Still alive, still love you all :)

Cheers, Steve. It's really awesome to hear from you. Much love to you, too, brother.

I think I'll be a bit too sad to sensibly do anything about the PC issues for the time being:

Laptop started acting up. Barely able to do anything online now. Sending this from Wii U. Good news is, main beast went in for repairs today.

Some small progress to report. The laptop seems to be back to normal after an integral software update, so at least I can help out a bit around here again.

The main PC is still kinda in limbo at the moment. I was talking to the repairer today. He says Windows will have to be reinstalled. We're also considering upgrading the drive setup. The original configuration consists of a 120GB SSD for the OS, plus two raid-striped 1.8TB HDDs for everything else. The raid HDDs are great for performance, but are not without issues, such as making Windows installation a right pain, which I've found out the hard way before.

However, he suggested an interesting alternative. I wasn't aware, but these days there is such a thing as a 2TB SSD. Imagine that! They're rather expensive, though, but it may be the best way to tame the beast.

My PC that does all the good gaming stuff has a 250gb SSD for the system and a 2TB and 4TB SATA drive setup... Big SSD's are great but I'd have to wait quite a while for the price to drop before I'd throw money at one for now...

I've been saving up for just such an occasion, so I'm going for it! It's gonna be a Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSD.

The recent price history for it is fairly steady in the UK market:

It hasn't gotten significantly cheaper of late. If anything, the graph there shows the price has been going up above average since the beginning of 2017. The cheapest price so far was back in early 2016.

Cool mate, if there are any important emulation files you're missing or can't find, don't hesitate to ask...

Hey thanks, Panther. Hopefully, I'll be OK with that. The repairer says he saved all my data. Obviously, though, reinstalling Windows wipes out all programs, so there is that to look forward to. A fresh install of StarCraft 2, for example, normally takes the best part of a day.

:ouch:
