Well, I'm OK with the new stuff, but since I can't afford any next gen console, emulators and PC games are all I have now (I even developed a facination for arcade games). If I may suggest a game with a good retro feel, you should play Streets Of Rage Remake V5. Sega filed a Cease & Desist order against it's creators (Bomber Games), but nothing ever disappears on the interwebs.
If I ever become a good programmer, the first thing I'll do is hack the game to port it as an arcade (if it's even possible, of course).
Well, I have an XBOX360 with RGH chip installed (I can play any game I want for free) I have Batman Arkham city, crysis 3, metro: last night, far cry 3... you name it, and believe it or not sometimes I don't touch the console for days! but what I do everyday is playing MAME. Even when I play with the XBOX360 I play "xbox live arcade" titles wich are great and most of them have a great retro feel. For example I'm currently playing "super meat boy" and "monkey island: special edition" and I didn't even touched the above mentioned games.
These days videogames are made so a 5 years old kid could complete them, so.. where is the fun in that kind of games? you can beat them putting yourself in "autopilot" mode without any effort at all...
Yeah yeah... sure, no problem.. ehhmmm well... bye...
I guess that's why games like Dark Souls got so famous.
Anyway, a clear example of this problem is Dead Rising. In the first one, you could only save in one slot and you didn't have any continues. If you die, you reload your last save point, and if you save too late, you can never catch the next scoop and the "truth will be lost forever". On the second game, you can save on different slot and the third one even has checkpoints.
In any case, I think games nowadays are pretty good. You just have to dig for the goldies. And don't forget we did the same thing back in the day.
BackForwardPunch, a.k.a. BFP, a.k.a. Evil Steve, a.k.a Steve not only will beat you online, but he will go to your house and beat you there too!
Don't mess with BFP. FTW
This was a great video.
