Any of you guys like the sound of a free beta shoot 'em up that pays homage the greats of the 80's, well if the answer is yes then you need to check out Galaxy Pilot by Byte Horizon... Now I wouldn't share anything like this unless I thought it was good and believe me this is good... Not only that but I have been talking to the developer, Tony Smith, on his forum and he has been recoding and debugging to get a version that displays on my vertical monitor, which was a success, he's a top bloke and I have his permission to post this... Please take a look, best indie game I've seen in years...

Hey Panther, I donloaded this game and I'm currently playing it.

The only thing I would change about this game is how you can withstand bullets (you need to be hit 100 times in order for you to lose a life) and yet a single collition with an enemy ship is enough to kill you, I wish there was some balance. For examble, if bullets drained 2 hit points instead of 1, but in exchange a collition with an enemy ship, instead of killing you, just took 40 HP. On the bright side, I like everything else, the upgrades feel awesome, you really feel powerfull when you have 2 escort ships, autofire, and lasers. Also, I think the overheat gauge is really cool, it makes you wan't to think about where you are shooting and when. It's also worth mention the artstyle, a real homage to 80's space shooters, especially Star Force.
Thanks for the recommendations, it will bring me hours of entertainment!

Max had some great feeback and while I haven't gotten to the end, one cool thing that quickly came to mind was it would be cool to make it have an ending zone like Lifeforce where the plane is trying to evacuate. If I think f anything I'll let you now but an did this guy do a great job. I'd love to make a Castlevania game!

I just love all the old arcade elements that have been thrown in together to make this, and I figured I wouldn't be the only one on here to enjoy it... And you're right Seraph, he did do a great job...
