I'm not sure if I mentioned it but is there anything you guys think I could drop in place of CarnEvil or should it be left off the list. I thought it was a fun game as far as replay goes. Watching Zombieland made me think of this one again.

CarnEvil is a highly sought after game on MAME, for sure.

I was thinking maybe you could drop Crypt Killer for Carnevil, but then I thought that Maze of the Kings is actually a better game for that spot. It's similar in style to Crypt Killer, but it's just a better game overall. I guess my other candidate for dropping in favour of CarnEvil would be Jurassic Park (1993), thanks to the mind-numbing music.

I think you're right about Jurassic Park. It lacked on the replay and the sound was way subpar. Also, the gameplay glitchy feel kinda takes from the nostalgia. CarnEvil should be able to take that spot and the Maze of the Kings beats out Crypt Killer if you look at post 2000 as well. Completely agree! I need to make sure to post up that post 2000 list with it. I also need to go back and look at some of those post 2000 recommendations you all brought up again including Dimahoo.

If you guys think about anything else let me know, but I'm about to dissapear for two weeks to prep for an exam. When I get back I will finish working on the best version of each game so I can finalize the list and maybe get it stickied after you all look at it.

Should I link each of those titles to the MAME Addicts review or should I link to the videos? Keep the best version in title but link to something MameAddicts.

Your list looks great now with the added ROM set info. Yeah, I would link any relevant titles to the Rec Games reviews, since they contain the gameplay demonstrations anyway.

Any that have links I'll setup this weekend.

Alien 3: The Gun (url]http://www.mameaddicts.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=1535#p1535(/url]

What am i missing to make the links based on the way MA has their code setup? Used parentheses to not activate code.

Almost done and then I've got my old school games list gonna post in the other part of the forum. It's a top 100 console games list pre 2000!
Since I've played everything on the console side I called the st well I'd say. However, no way could ave made the list what it is without MA.

I have had that list for a little bit but wanted to do arcade first because I needed the expertise of you guys to finish up my lists I'll be putting in my frontend I haven't choosen yet.

As soon as I get that other Top 100 posted, I'll likely start asking for frontend advice.

You can use the 'Code' tags to not activate code. I'm guessing you wanna use the style where the game name is a link. Right? Here's how that works:

Alien vs. Predator

Inside the first tag I typed the equals sign directly after where it says url, then pasted the link after that. In between the tags I type whatever I want the link to be called, in this case Alien vs. Predator, which makes this:

Alien vs. Predator

Another function you might like to use is the 'List' code to offset the games under their respective headings. Multiple tags can be stacked, so you can put bold text and links or whatever inside an overall tag, like so:

Top 10 Classic
Defender (Red label)
Donkey Kong (US set 1)
Frogger (Sega set 2)
Galaga (Namco rev. B)
Mario Bros. (US, Revision F)
Missile Command (rev 3)
Pac-Man (Midway)
Pong (Rev E), no subcycles
Space Invaders / Space Invaders M
Star Wars (rev 2)
Which makes this:

Top 10 Classic

    Defender (Red label)
    Donkey Kong (US set 1)
    Frogger (Sega set 2)
    Galaga (Namco rev. B)
    Mario Bros. (US, Revision F)
    Missile Command (rev 3)
    Pac-Man (Midway)
    Pong (Rev E), no subcycles
Space Invaders / Space Invaders M
    Star Wars (rev 2)

In the above I just put a name style link on the first game, Defender, as an example for you. Like I said, you can keep stacking multiple tags to add more links inside that list tag.

The 'List item' code is another cool feature (it's the asterisk in square brackets). It puts a nice dot in front of list items:

Top 10 Classic

Defender (Red label)

Donkey Kong (US set 1)

Frogger (Sega set 2)

Galaga (Namco rev. B)

Mario Bros. (US, Revision F)

Missile Command (rev 3)

Pac-Man (Midway)

Pong (Rev E), no subcycles

Space Invaders / Space Invaders M

Star Wars (rev 2)
Which makes this:

Top 10 Classic

  • Defender (Red label)
  • Donkey Kong (US set 1)
  • Frogger (Sega set 2)
  • Galaga (Namco rev. B)
  • Mario Bros. (US, Revision F)
  • Missile Command (rev 3)
  • Pac-Man (Midway)
  • Pong (Rev E), no subcycles
  • Space Invaders / Space Invaders M
  • Star Wars (rev 2)

That cool little dot seems to make things easier on the eye and creates the impression of a proper list. I'd be happy to help implement those finishing touches if you find any of that too confusing.
