Yes, it's pretty fantastic. I wish that more projects like this would happen. It's better than emulation, really. Imagine if someone did this for Street Fighter 2 and added native widescreen support to it. It'd be great.

I just tweaked it some more. The orange was too strong on the sunset graphics, so I toned that down.

The R-Type ship's lasers and muzzle flash are no longer darkened by the time of day either.

I decided to remove the pixel shader from the frontend. Instead of a real-time pixel shader, I just pre-generated the day, sunset, and night graphics and load those graphics at the right time of day. I reduced the volume of the building smash sound effect a little. Also, it now has the crowd graphics from Street Fighter 2: Hyperfighting.
